Prof. dr hab. Tadeusz Markowski z tytułem Doktora Honoris Causa

We are proud to announce that prof. dr hab. Tadeusz Markowski from the Department of City and Regional Management, Faculty of Management, University of Lodz has been awarded the title of doctor honoris causa of the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin.

Awarding this prestigious title to prof. dr hab. Tadeusz Markowski is an expression of recognition for his scientific achievements. As justified by the Senate of the University of Technology, prof. dr hab. Tadeusz Markowski received the title for "outstanding scientific and organisational achievements in the field of economic conditions of spatial planning, city management and shaping the concept of integrated development planning, as well as inspiring a wide interdisciplinary cooperation of scientific communities and practice".

Prof. dr hab. T. Markowski worked for committees of the Sejm, including the Local Self - Government and Regional Policy Committee and the Environment Protection, Natural Resources and Forestry Committee, preparing expert reports and opinions on the concept of national spatial development policy between 2001-2011. He acted for the reform of the spatial and regional planning system, gave opinions on draft acts on regional development. He is the author of numerous appeals and expert opinions assessing the functioning of spatial management in Poland, which were prepared and sent to the Government, Sejm and the President of Poland. He elaborated numerous expert reports for the Government on regional development policy, including opinions on draft laws on urban regeneration from 2000 to 2017. His opinions were used in government programming documentation, incl. for the purposes of the NSSR, the National Spatial Development Concept.

Prof. dr hab. Markowski has also played a significant role in the development of the Faculty of Management, University of Lodz - serving as Dean, Vice-Dean for Science and International Cooperation, Head of the Department of City and Regional Management, member of the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Management and member of the Faculty Council.

The ceremony of awarding the title of doctor honoris causa was held on 7 October 2022 at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin.
