Eko pocztówka. Warsztaty z upcyclingu z Adą Rybką

Place of the event: Jana Matejki 32/38, 90-237 Łódź
When: 23 February 2023 (Thursday) 17:00 - 20:00

On Thursday (23 February) at 5:00 p.m. we invite you to the University of Lodz Library to a workshop, during which you will be able to unleash your creativity and prepare an occasional postcard using the pop-up method, i.e. using various art techniques. The workshop will be led by Ada Rybka – a painter, graphic artist, creator of landscapes in the form of painting miniatures and relief prints.

The "Eco postcard" workshop introduces a forgotten form of analogue correspondence – an occasional postcard. During the meeting, the workshop participants will make it using the pop-up method, using various art techniques. The workshop also aims at unleashing the creativity that lies within each of us, regardless of age and status.

The meeting with Ada Rybka is also a return and reminder of communication by means of postcards (there are countries in Europe where the tradition of sending occasional postcards remains very popular), as well as creating colourful stories based on imagination and fantasy. And everything in the spirit of eco, because the objects prepared during the workshop will be made of recycled paper.

The workshop of making cards using the pop-up method will be held for the first time – it had been prepared by the Up-Life Foundation especially for the MATERIA. MEDIUM. WYMIANA proramme and accompanies the exhibition of Zofia Bisiak “Całe stado dmuchawców oczekuje wiatru” [A whole group of dandelion clocks awaits the wind]

A FEW WORDS ABOUT THE METHOD

The pop-up technique is based on a durable and functional construction that allows you to make three-dimensional paper projects. This method is used to create the so-called "fold-outs", true works of engineering in the field of paper art. Beauty, technique and content combine into a three-dimensional whole, creating a world in which the recipient can immerse themselves every time they open the prepared object. At the meeting at the University of Lodz Library, the artist will show step by step how to make a spatial card, discovering all stages of production: cutting, assembly, gluing, mounting and binding.
